A Vin Verification is Required for a Title from Out-of-State

Buying a used vehicle does not always guarantee a seamless process. In some cases, the title may be from another state. When this happens, you need to make sure you do your due diligence by checking the title for a few things. First, make sure the Vin number on the title matches the Vin on the vehicle. Next, make sure the name on the title matches the person you are buying the car from. In some cases, you may come across a vehicle where it was sold from another person to your seller. In this situation, you should consider getting a bill of sale from all sellers involved. In addition, you will need a Vin Verification completed on the vehicle. This will help make the registration process go much smoother.

2) The Importance of Vin Verifications for Vehicles With No Record

Having seen a vehicle go from rust to it's original condition, is a magical process. You want to keep in mind these types of vehicles will be stored in someone's yard for many years. By the time the vehicle restoration process is done, the vehicle no longer has a record in the DMV system. As a result, a Vin Verification will be required to register and obtain the title. One other important thing to remember for these type of transactions, if you have a pick up truck or any other type of commercial vehicle, DMV will want a current weight certificate.
